TPS - Symptoms if faulty?

Hi all,

A while ago I posted a thread describing how when I accelarate hard and reach a certain rev range (about 7 - 8k) on my FZS600 it very briefly drops power a bit almost as though it was a misfire. Originally I thought it was the clutch slipping but am sure it's not that now.

Anyway, I have recently changed the plugs, cleaned the air filter, balanced the carbs, changed the coolant and oil etc (all jobs that needed doing anyway) and I hoped that one of these...

Can anyone please tell me whats the best oil to use in my Scottoiler, I'm sure I read engine oil is ok but thought I'd check what your ideas are. Cheers

NGK Spark Plug Caps - Part Number?

Anyone know the part number for the NGK Spark Plug Caps for a FZS600? Hot-Poop doesn't seem to be working at the mo.

Also, changed the plugs today and old ones were CR9E but ones I fitted were CR8E....what's the difference? I ordered mine using a part-finder on a webby.

Hope this is in the right place as its my first post,

My bike (600 fzs 51 reg 29000mls) is running OK at idle but on opening the throttle it is sluggish as 2 & 3 cylinders not firing propel but if keep feathering or keep it open it will then pick up & pull right through but if you shut off then try to open it up again it's sluggish lacks power but will pull through if the throttle is keeps open, I have changed the fuel pump the air filter the plugs & lastly the...

Right then, over the last few weeks the bike has started to feel a little poorly. I know the carbs need balancing big time but the weather has prevented me doing this for a while now. Anyway, this Tuesday the bike started mis-firing and stalling. I suspected carb-icing considering it was the day after the frost and all the symptoms were exactly as per the carb-icing bit on HOT POOP (ie, mis-firing, leave the bike for a few mins and it's fine then mis-fires again etc etc).

So,...

Winter is here again .. I just looked .. so it must be close to Crimbo Time.

As you might know .. I'm known as Polar Bear ... I got the name in the Navy, when doing a 9 month Ice Diving shift way up above the Arctic Circle.

I've been back up there several times since .. Whale Watching, Polar Bear Watching, Husky Dog Safari's and so on. I love the place .. but I'm not over keen on being Cold! It ain't nice and it ain't safe!

Hi Guys I,ve just bought a 07 plate FZ1 fazer to which I,am about to service , I,ve been told to use a yamaha filter ?? whats your thoughts on this and Which oil brand should I use ?? I want a 10-40 Semi - Synthetic .On my old bike XJR1300 I used silkolene comp 4 to which I can,t get a hold of from local dealers most have Rock iol , whats your thoughts guys

Handlebar options

I'm migrating from many years on off-road style bikes to a lovely low mileage 2000 FZS 600 Fazer and would like to change the handlebars to bring the riding position to something i'm more used to and take some of the weight off my knackered wrists...
I don't want to Streetfighter it - I want to keep the fairing intact / in place for a little protection - so does this limit me to bar risers or is there something else I should consider?

Oil light

Stuck a Scorpion end can on the bike today 02 plate FZS600 kindly lent to me by Uncle Fazbaz and once it was on I "fired it up" and boy it sounds sweet, so I took it for a hurl to get some fuel and noticed the oil light was on. This was quite alarming so I turned round took it back to the garage and checked the oil level......was ok.... put a little more oil in anyway to take it up to maximum and tried again, oil light still on. Took it down the road and ping light went out...

I'm doing the oil and plugs on mrs ed's Yamaha XJ400 Diversion.

All good so far, sump plug out (with a bit of welly) and plugs are easy as pie, just got a problem removing the oil filter.

It's at the front of the engine (as usual) so it's been exposed to all sorts of crap, it looks like it's been on there for about 6 years (really) and it just won't shift.

First I tried a filter wrench (chain type) and that just squeezed it until a small...

ive posted this again in the hope of getting a reply b4 it gets moved to hints section where my last one didnt get any replies. I tried to fit new switch today but it seems new and old switch are fine so what do you check if the switch isnt faulty but it doesnt cut the engine, and iit lets you ride off with stand down. I plugged new switch in but it still didnt work.

I had to replace the clutch lever but since then I've struggled to adjust it. I've realised now that the the cable is 'sticky' and appears to be getting worse. It was really noticeable on the way home with a feeling the clutch is partially engaged all the time. Soooooooooo how do I grease a clutch cable without a specialist tool? I thought I would loosen it, disconnect it from the lever, wrap a gloved had...

bent valve end plate

took the ex-up valve out i was gettin 7k reading on tacho only had the bike a month anyway to cut a long story short the valve was seized solid into the end plate would`nt come out even with loads of heat had to take it to work and drive it out in a fly press but in doin so ive bent the end plate so if i can`t straighten it does anyone know where i can get another one ive rang a few bike breakers but no joy
