Bald rear tyre!

Hey,

looking for a wee bitty of advice here...

Need a new rear tyre for my Fazer T reg. A friend of mine reckons his mate can fit & supply for £100 and i called Harleys, where i got the bike & they quoted around £180 for a Bridgestone.

Why the massive difference? Do you think the cheaper one is some guff tyre? recommendations? haha

Dunlop D252 - Mince in the Wet or just me?

Not happy with my OE Dunlop D252's. Fine in the dry but feel very very poor in the wet. Only done 2k and lothed to change them just now but don't think I could live with them through a glasgow winter.

Trouble is I had a minor spill on my old FZS600 last year and am not entirly convinced that this isn't in the back of my mind when riding. Does any one els find the D252's mince in the wet or is it just me?

Also does anyone know any one in Glasgow who will...

Avon Storms

I am due to change my tyres (i still have a bit of tread left on my 021's but they are borderline and rear is squared off nicely)

in 2 weeks i am getting Avon Storms front and back, the local garage couldn't rate them highly enough (good bloke, trust his opinion) but any of you guys used them on the FZS600 before? they are sport touring and are supposed to be really good in rain and last a fair old time.

I did want PR2's but simply couldn't afford them at...

I have Maxxis on right now, done a few thou on them, fine in the dry, shite in the wet, can't lean over without the back end squirming like a bound hostage.
I don't fancy a winter on them. Bad enough with a wet summer.

So the question is......

What tyres will tour, commute, lean in the wet without slippin within a few degrees of the turn, hold on in twisties and do the possible occasional ring round knockhill/loch leven?

Hi everyone, been looking at this site for ages but never posted. Anyway has anyone got a recommendation on a set of tyres for fast road use and the occasional track day. My Fazer 600 is a mint 51 plate with only 3000 miles on it ie only ridden as a toy. Anyway I'm off on a couple of track days and wonder what anyone might recommend more sporty. I was all set for the Michelin Pilot Power 2ct but see they only make the Pilot road 2ct in the odd 110/70 front size. Anyone ever tried the...

Pilot Road 2 v Dunlop Roadsmart

Has anyone tried the new Dunlop Roadsmart tyre and if so do they compare well to Pilot road 2's, they are a similar idea (dual / triple compound). I have had PR 2's as my last set but just wondered if these were just as grippy or long lasting.

Both can be got for around the same price.

Opinions please ?

Newish Fazer owner here. When I bought the bike a few months ago it had a BT14 on the front, and a worn BT20 on the back. I decided to replace the rear with a BT14 to have a matching pair, but now find myself having to replace it again after less than 3k miles!! I know it is a softer compound and is expected to have a shorter life, but it is still a shock having come from 900 Diversion owner where I was getting 6 or 7k from a rear.

Hi all,
Its time for a tyre change on my 2002 fzs 600. At the moment it's been running on Bt020 Front 110/70 zr17 & Rear Bt020 160/60 zr 17. Does anybody know if this is the correct sizes or should I be looking for something else. All advise welcomed, thanks in advance.

if so, what do/did you think of them? I have some azaro's on at the mo, but will need to replace them in about 1000 miles time, so just trying to guage what the storms are like. loved the azaro's mind, they've done well over 10k.

BT021 ride in ride out price and first impressions

Ive just had a new pair of 021s fitted. Ride in ride out price fitted n balanced...£196. That was Manhattens motorcycles in sheffield. They beat the price of m &p and busters by about 17quid and that was before postage was even added. Ive not experienced any of the front wheel tyre noise yet, but have only done about 6 mile on em back from the shop.
The roads were wet so wasnt pushing hard but the still felt secure to say they werent scrubbed in.

Supermaxx tyres, whats your input

Has anyone tried these Supermaxx tyres? I've seen them advertised at £100 for a pair, then the postage. Or £60 for the rear and £40 for the front.

They look an excellent tyre, with nice tread.

I know what your thinking 'if a tyre only costs £60 then they can't be much good'

But i think if i paid £80ish then i'd have more faith in it. Am i right?

I've done a breif search on google and there was feedback of a ZX12r rider who...

Front tyre size question

My manual says 110/70/17 for the front of my 98 Fazer.
Bloke in the tyre place reckons I can use a 120 too.
Is he talking rubbish or is this true. Personally I'd be inclined to go with Yamaha recommendation, but can you safely muck about with sizes?

Bridgestone Battlax BT57 any good?

I have these on my Fazer and they are due for replacing but as I`ve not had the bike long I have n`t really tested the tyres.
Are BT57s good enough to get another set or is there a better tyre for a Fazer (2002)?

I have recently found an easy way to break the beads when changing my own tyres . on smaller bikes a vice can be used but finding the back tyre on my thou wouldent fit in the vice I found another way . I have a bare wheel rim which fits the front of my car "front for weight" removing the road wheel and then fit the bare rim , simply use some toweling or whatever to protect the alloy of the bike wheel let the car down carefully onto the bike wheel , bead usually cracks within 2...

I seem to be needing a new rear once again, I think I may need to calm my riding down a bit to give the tyres a bit more life. Dont think i've even got 4k out of it. It's a BT020 at the moment ...

Just after some advice, I'm about to tackle a European trip down to Le Mans in just over a week, and there will be a lot of cruising and a lot of hooning about when on nice roads, so what would people advise as a good tyre?

As you may have seen, I've been thinking about getting new tyres as my z6 rear is not guaranteed to last for my Scottish tour of 3k miles ish.
I'll be most likely selling the bike on and possibly p/ex due to ease in the summer so not too many miles to go.

I have an avon viper sport at 5500 miles on the front maybe 1/2 worn
and a square-sh z6 rear at 5700

Now I don't want to be spending a fortune on pilots or something and I have an 800 mile Metzler...

Think I know the answer here, but just to check.....

In February my local Yammie main dealer replaced my tyres. Had Metzeler Sportec on but when I took the bike in they had ordered the wrong tyres and so put Roadtec's on instead.

Haven't used the bike much (about 2-300 commuting miles) since as had to replace the exhaust due to riding through most of the winter.

Today at work my boss parked his bike next to mine and was admiring the nice new shiny Delkevic pipes, but then walked into the office & pointed out...
