why can't I get any of my desktop internet shortcuts to work?

if i select a site from "my favourites" dropdown menu then the web url appears in the browser...and the website responds...no probs...

BUT...if I try to access the same site via a shortcut from my desktop, internet explorer fires itself up...but the website url is missing...so it won't open.

if I copy the address into the browser...it then works ok...

any ideas ???...

Downloading music to mobile

Got a new mobile today (LG KS360) with an MP3 player. I have tried to download some music from Windows media player via the USB cable but am having no joy although my laptop is detecting the phone and I have downloaded the relevant software from the LG website.

Sometimes Media player detects the phone and other times it doesn`t and when it does it says that I have only 1mb of space left out of 14mb although there are no music files on my phone. Is it a focced up phone, focced up...

game harbor

matt has manged to get game harbor downloaded onto his pc, now i presume that why when i open either firefox or IE we get windows appear with adult friend finder, casino's, game of the day etc etc. when i go to delete it, it says it cannot as a certain file cannot be found, i went onto major geeks and downloaded malwarebytes, after an 8 hour scan it had found 97 things it did not like and i asked it to take them all away - i restarted the pc - and yes low and behold its still bloody...

How the bloody hell did I manage to move from a slightly annoying problem with AVG compatability to a seriously arsey problem with Cyber Security?

I've tried deleting (to no avail), tried downloading ieplore.exe and deleting (to no avail) and tried downloading other stuff to kill it, only to be told I can't download it......and every 30 seconds the bloody cyber security gives me a "web page blocked" bloody thing......(possibly should have been in moans and...

Windows 7 and email - or lack of

Installed W7 on Monday and now noticed lack of email program WTF?

Ok so followed what they want and set up a Windows Live account. Got emails (from my isp account) on the MSN home page and all looking dandy and dogs dooda's,
BUT how the foc do you get it to "check for mail" und download it and update that posh box on the MSN homepage?????????

The emails I've got displayed were automaticaly downloaded when I set up the account with my orange mail but...

When I post a picture on the site that I have recently put in photobucket the clarity is much less than the file on my computer.

PC Backups

I'm looking for software to handle backups of my data (not too fussed about the programs etc, can always re-install those after a disaster). Something that can handle just doing it stuff when I tell it to (fine if it has a scheduler too, as long as that isn't the only way it works), and will do full and incremental backups. Target will be USB drives.

I haven't experimented much with the Vista provided utility, but was put off at the first screen - you can only select...

Updates and AVG

Dear all,

Any suggestions? My pooter kept on telling me it had some updates (microsoft I think) that it wanted to close the pc for ......eventually (after a few days) I let it get on with it. Now my AVG virus checker is having an absolute spasm. I've tried uninstalling AVG - it refused to do it - so now I've tried to uninstall all the stuff that updated yesterday ......but the problem doesn't appear to be any better....
Any thoughts/suggestions for the technically...

Ipod through washing machine!!!!!

Don't laugh....my DD's Ipod has been put through the washing machine. Happened about three weeks ago. Had plenty of time to dry out but nothing
apart from a very quiet ticking from inside. It's only a few months old so should I send it to Apple or anything else recommended.????..please!

Plasma Screen problems

My 3 year old Samsung plasma tv has started to play up. When I first switch it on the screen looks grainy with what looks like faded yellow and green dots all over, this clears up after about 5 to 10 minuets and the picture is perfect. After about another 1.5 to 2 hours of watching I get bright green lines around the edges of shadows, peoples faces and the edges of buildings and vehicles etc. I say lines but it is more like lots and lots of bright green dots joined up.

Having grown out of my 200MB account (which I thought would last me forever!!) I'm looking to upgrade to about 10GB space. Currently I use eukhost who are very good but expensive, and have looked at GoDaddy who are cheap but their interface and features look lacking. Any recommendations?
