I just need to make sure I'm not screwing up the factory warrantee! I've already ordered a Haines manual and Phillips replacement X-treme bulbs (I have 2 H4 bulbs from the GPZ500S I can use for the other bulb) and I'm planning to do the dual headlight mod ASAP following this great guide by bd42 so I don't have to splice into the existing cables. I'll upgrade the lights in the pods too although I can't decide between LEDs to reduce the powerdraw and more Philips bulbs.
I've ordered some heated grips that I'll wire into the ignition with a relay along with a cigarette lighter socket to charge my GPS on (which will need a mount attaching somewhere). Are there any good places near the front of the bike to hide away the socket where it's out of the elements? I'm also going to shave the factory seat a teeny bit in places to make it a bit lower and to give me more of a groove to sit in. That's a nice cheap mod to keep me going over Christmas.
Then after Christmas when I have some money again, I'm thinking about getting all the shiny bits (passenger pegs etc) either powder coated or I'll paint them black (depends on how much powder coating costs).
I want a
stealth bike. May also get a light tint headlight cover (but not PowerBronze as the one I ordered for my GPZ was shiiiiite).
I'm going to go for either a double-bubble or flip screen in dark tint to get the wind blast off my chest and onto the helmet where it should be (I installed a PowerBronze flip onto my GPZ500S and it was amazing the difference it made).
Then will come a Scorpion exhaust system (with the OLD style outlets) and a cat eliminator pipe that MAY be ceramic coated black (although it will probably cost too much) or I'll paint that and the downpipes etc with high temp paint and just redo it every couple of years. At the same time, I'll install a performance air filter (K&N or similar) and disconnect the battery to rest the ECU. I'm not sure if it's worth doing the airbox mod or not as it looks like that will invalidate my warrantee.
Any other mods that are recommended by you guys? I don't know what the stock plugs are like. Are they worth swapping out for NGKs or should I just leave it until they get fouled up and need changing?
