If I take the lowers into a spray shop with the paint code (DPBMU?) will they be able to match the paint exactly? OR, will they need to buy the paint from yamaha? Bit of a novice when it comes to paint codes and the like.. Any advice much appreciated! Cheers Jim

They are worse than useless and most unhelpful. They will tell you that Yamaha don't issue paint codes. Oddly enough the paint sourced purely based on paint codes provided by Yamaha USA was a perfect match for my UK Graphite Grey FZ1. If you are getting a paint shop to do the job, just leave it to them to source the paint. They will test spray an colour match the item to the rest of the bike. If you are doing it yourself, half an hour of research on the internet and a few phone calls should sort you out. Make sure you still test it on a hidden area to get the colour match right.

See the sticky thread at the top of the Thou Corner (Touch Up Paint). RS Paints and BikeColours (www.bikecolours.com/) should be able to help you out. I've just bought paints from the latter and they were very helpful. The painter should be able to sort out the information needed - that's his job.
